Shape Of Your Heart (Hillsong)

Artist: Hillsong United
Words and Music: Joel Houston and Matt Crocker
Album: Wonder
Release: 2017
Tempo: 170 beats per minutes
Key: G
Details: I can say that the song is easy to play being in key of G. On first verse, Hillsong play it in G sustain using keyboard’s string effects. In case that you are going to play it solo in acoustic guitar you can play the same chords as verse 2.

Also there are tricky parts in changing chords on every line in Em-D / Am-G and so on. The best way to keep the timing is to listen to the song carefully and see how they are going to change the chord in this part. That is what I did in recognizing the chord for this song.

Verse 1
G (sustain in G as keyboard do this part)
There’s a light hanging over me

There’s a beam running way down

Turning sorrow to ecstasy

As the dust comes to life

Pre-Chorus
              Am                   G        Em-D
See the shape of Your heart
                     D         C            Am-G
Where the margins collide
                  Am                G             Em    D
There’s a life hanging over me, over me
                        D                           C        Am-G
Where Your love crossed the lines

Chorus
 Am            G                     Em        D
You run   deep like the wildest heavens
 D             C                     Am       G
You run deep like the wild in me

Verse 2
                  Am                 G              Em-D
There’s a love hanging over me
                                            C           Am-G
There’s a beam running way out
            Am              G            Em-D
In the shadow of mystery
                    D                   C       Am-G
Where my soul comes alive

*Repeat Pre-chorus

Chorus 2
 Am            G                     Em        D
You run   deep like the wildest heavens
 D             C                     Am       G
You run deep like the wild in me
Am             G                      Em        D
You run   wide like the four horizons
D             C                          Am     G
You run wide enough to cover me

Post-Chorus
            Em          D        C-Am
How I love You Jesus
Am                G
I will worship You
           Em                 D       C-Am
I will worship You Jesus
G                              Am     G
Higher than anything I   see
Em                     D
More than the air I breathe
D                C
I need You
                 Am                   G
I see the shape of Your heart

*Repeat Pre-chorus
*Repeat Chorus 2 x2

Verse 3
                  Am                   G            Em-D
There’s a cross hanging over me
                 D                     C                Am-G
There’s a fire burning inside out
             Am                                 G  Em-D
As the word comes to life in me

Splinters And Stone (Hillsong)

Artist: Hillsong United
Words and Music: Joel Houston, Matt Crocker
Album: Wonder
Release: 2017
Tempo: 75 beats per minutes
Key: D
Details: Reading the lyrics, I realized yeah it is right that God offered His love in return of our worst. Most of us  come to God when we experience difficulties, yes in our worst in our heavy heart. And God without a question, He do help us every time. In our weaknesses God shows His greatness.

I like the song on appreciating God’s helping hand in our worst. This is the reason why we experience bad things. It is common to hear a word of, “why God let bad things happen to good people” this is the reason. Because the only way for us to appreciate help is when we need it. Though God is always helping us either asking or not asking for it but the only way we can appreciate His presence is if we acknowledge our weakness and surrender everything to him.  Continue reading Splinters And Stone (Hillsong)

Seasons (Hillsong)

Artist: Hillsong Worship
Words and Music: Chris Davenport, Benjamin Hastings & Ben Tan
Album: There Is More
Release: 2018
Tempo: 73 beats per minute
Key: C
Details: If we feel that there is no hope in this life. Feeling abandoned like there is no God working in life despite of surrendering our lives to him, be still and listen how this song will encourage us to keep going, keep moving with God and our season will come. It is all a matter of patience.

What really moved me in this song is the last part of the bridge where Ben said that God can save us in second but instead He sent us His son. Can we ever think what does it mean? It is a patience in due time.

Upon listening to the song even more, recognizing chords to post here, I realized that this song is about patience but ironically we don’t like such word. Technology consumes our patience. We don’t want to wait. We want to make it faster, instant. We have instant noodles. We have fast food. We are spending money for latest devices, faster devices, faster computer. We want 50Mbps or 100Mbps. Admit it we want everything to be fast.

But God, He doesn’t work like that. He believes in patience and He also want us to do the same as He sent His Son to us, He wants us to keep holding on until His Son return because the best is still yet to come… our season to come. Continue reading Seasons (Hillsong)

So Will I (100 Billion X) (Hillsong)

Artist: Hillsong Worship
Words and Music: Benjamin Hastings / Joel Houston / Michael Fatkin
Album: There Is More
Release: 2018
Tempo: 64 beats per minute
Key: D
Details: Based from Psalm 148 where all creatures must praise the Lord. The sun, the moon, the angels, the stars, the wind the trees – everything.

According to Benjamin Hastings and Joel in their interview at New Song Cafe, the song tells about how Jesus saved us from our failures – As he speaks, a hundred billion failures disappear. They added that the song is about a billion things that God did and going to do. So instead of just putting numbers like 10 thousand, 1 billion or 8 billion as how many people living in the world, they make it a hundred more as it is still cheap of how we can measure God’s love.

As for me tells the song tells about humbling ourselves to God as how His Son shown us. With how many creatures praising God, and so will I.

So Will I (100 Billion X) is included on Hillsong Worship album, There Is More.
