New Wine (Hillsong)

Artist: Hillsong Worship
Words and Music: Brooke Fraser Ligertwood
Album: There Is More
Release: 2018
Tempo: 70 beats per minute
Key: Eb
Details: Searching the bible for the verse regarding with the “new wine” it gave me a verse from Luke 5 : 33 – 39, it is about Jesus questioned about fasting. As Pharisees follow John the Baptist teaching specifically about fasting, they also believe that Jesus must do the same.

To answer the question Jesus told this parable: “No one tears a piece out of a new garment to patch an old one. Otherwise, they will have torn the new garment, and the patch from the new will not match the old. 37 And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the new wine will burst the skins; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. 38 No, new wine must be poured into new wineskins. 39 And no one after drinking old wine wants the new, for they say, ‘The old is better.””

When it comes to the song, Jesus is making the new wine out of us. Making means pressing and crushing or challenges for Christian. From difficulties, there will be new power and freedom. Continue reading New Wine (Hillsong)

Touch of Heaven (Hillsong)

Artist: Hillsong Worship
Words and Music: Michael Fatkin / Hannah Hobbs / Aodhán King
Album: There Is More
Release: 2018
Tempo: 68 beats per minute
Key: D
Details: What this song means? What “touch of heaven means?

The closest verse we can get in the Bible is taken from the book of Mathew chapter 6 verse 9-10, where Jesus told his disciples to pray, “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”

The verse is about asking God and His kingdom to come. This mean a lot to us as Christian including the will of God, His blessings, and His salvation which we can acquire through Jesus. So we can say that Jesus is a touch of heaven who God sent to us so we can feel His love from of all his perfection. Without Jesus, it will be difficult to understand everything on what heaven means to us as we are bounded to earth.

When it comes to the song, Hillsong wants us to tell that for us to feel the touch of heaven we need to listen despite of world’s distraction. We need to open our heart so Jesus have the way in our lives – a surrender.

The song is easy to play. I only added some chords that you can see inside parenthesis as this is how I interpret the way Hillsong play it. But as for major chords, you can just play it with D-F#m-A-E progression for verse and D-E-F#m-A for chorus. Continue reading Touch of Heaven (Hillsong)

So Will I (100 Billion X) (Hillsong)

Artist: Hillsong Worship
Words and Music: Benjamin Hastings / Joel Houston / Michael Fatkin
Album: There Is More
Release: 2018
Tempo: 64 beats per minute
Key: D
Details: Based from Psalm 148 where all creatures must praise the Lord. The sun, the moon, the angels, the stars, the wind the trees – everything.

According to Benjamin Hastings and Joel in their interview at New Song Cafe, the song tells about how Jesus saved us from our failures – As he speaks, a hundred billion failures disappear. They added that the song is about a billion things that God did and going to do. So instead of just putting numbers like 10 thousand, 1 billion or 8 billion as how many people living in the world, they make it a hundred more as it is still cheap of how we can measure God’s love.

As for me tells the song tells about humbling ourselves to God as how His Son shown us. With how many creatures praising God, and so will I.

So Will I (100 Billion X) is included on Hillsong Worship album, There Is More.

There Is More – 2018 Hillsong Album

This is the 26th album from Hillsong Worship which is going to release on April 8, 2018. Featuring 12 songs of journey knowing who we are in God and know who God is to us. The album is asking for more of God in the world full of problems and distress. God give us hope telling us everyday that there is something more, more that we can ever imagine and dream of.

The album is based on the story of Jacob in Genesis 32 wherein he wrestles with God through the night where he was given a new name, a new purpose. Every song in the album sings of the different journey of encountering God will recreates us into something more.

Sometimes it is hard for us to accept things we lose. We become hopeless believing that that is the only thing we can go. We forgot that God is God of more. He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us through his spirit.

The album also features a new version of Hillsong United’s So Will I (100 Billion X) from their album wonder.

Ano Ang Kahulugan Ng Nadarang?

Continue reading Ano Ang Kahulugan Ng Nadarang?

Nadarang from the root word “darang” means get dried from the heat of fire.

Nadarang reached number one spot on Spotify PH’s Top 50 Viral Chart in less than a week after Materyal EP release.

Official music video released on February 13, 2018. Currently it has more than 7 million views.

This chords are based from Agsunta ft. John Roa rock version. Technically this is different from the original version or any other chords that you can copy from the web. At first I thought that the song is difficult to play as it is rap or maybe the way I follow chords from other website.

So I have decided to listen to the song and play it by ear where I realized that the rendition of Agsunta has 4 chords only throughout the song. Simple yet still better as the song is good to play in rock actually. Maybe it just me while all the respect are for Klumcee and Shanti Dope but the way I listen to the song, the rock version or the way how Agsunta play is still better.

So if you want to play Nadarang like how Agsunta covered it, you can use the chords below.
